Isan Livercare team
History
After
graduated the residency training program for internal medicine from Rama
hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok since 1983, Dr. Wattana
Sukeepaisarnjaroen has practiced medicine as gastroenterologist and hepatologist
at Srinagarind hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, Khon Kaen
in Thailand. She notices that there are many liver diseases in this region such
as hepatitis, cirrhosis, hepatoma and cholangiocarcinoma. One of the most
etiologic causes of hepatoma is viral hepatitis, including B and C. The
prevalence of all hepatitis and its complication, e.g., cirrhosis and
carcinomas are not decreased especially those caused by viral hepatitis B and C;
though, they are preventable. If we can put some interventions to change their
natural course, those complications will be decreased which, in turn, people
will be in good health and prolonged life.
In 2010, to solve the above problem, a
working team is formed. Our group composing of doctors, nurses, pharmacists,
nutritionists, and physiotherapists called themselves as Isan Livercare team.
Start taking care activities in Srinagarind hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon
Kaen University as holistic medical management in our clinic. Then, extend
outside the hospital by launching campaign in the private institute of
technology, Khon Kaen province. No organization was believed in our group
capability; therefore, we had to support our aspiration.
